BIO: In Letters Home, she wrote, "I think I would like to call myself 'the girl who wanted to be God.'" Born October 27, 1932 in Boston, USA, Sylvia Plath, daughter of German immigrants, brilliant student, triumphant poet, committed suicide at the age of 30 over a broken love affair, her marriage to English poet, Ted Hughes. Although a prodigious poet, her best known work is the semi-autobiographical novel, "The Bell Jar," about the emotional collapse of a young college student working in New York City.
