Lonely Path and Me

BH Manogna
copyright BH Manogna

Where it starts and where it ends,
Never was I conscious where it goes.
"I'm very short," the path pretends,
The path may not thwart with my deadly foes.

My shadow is the one who walks with me,
But when the sun slips into dusk doze,
Bidding farewell, away it do flee,
"I AM ALWAYS ALONE," my heart echoes.

"Everything I'd hear is my toe's-tramp,"
Always says my profound heart.
My spirit would never strain for a cramp,
Hearing wraith's wail, I'd never dart.

Beauties of path would never attract me
Or magnetic charm of the swaying trees.
My grief, my strife and my glee,
"Where's my goal," my heart does espy.

But still, I kept walking,
And I kept walking along the lonely path
